Have you ever been in a hurry and needed a quick healthy snack or meal on the go? That was my exact challenge earlier this week. I had no time to prepare a healthy meal to take with me. I wanted something that was going to be high in protein and beneficial to my hair, skin and nails as well. It also had to be something that would be quick and easy to prepare. So I decided to make a warm cup of bone broth. The type I purchased was the kind that I could simply mix into a cup of hot water. It was very similar to making a cup of tea. I quickly boiled some water, added my packet of both broth, stirred until completely dissolved and I was out the door in a flash. Oh yeah, I needed some spice too so I also added a few seasonings like a pinch of cayenne pepper, a few chopped scallion from my indoor garden and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. WOW…It was sooo delicious! The journey to strong healthy hair tasted fantastic! Bone broth can definitely be an amazing routine staple for growing out your hair and nails, especially if you are always on the go or are busy at work.

Out of this excitement, I decided to share with you the some key information on how your hair could benefit from bone both. Best of all, this includes improving your overall health.

Here are five major benefits of incorporating organic bone broth into your daily regimen.

  1. Bone Broth Promotes Collagen Production

Collagen is the main structural component of the hair, skin and nails. This is the protein that actually helps keep your skin nice and smooth and as youthful looking as possible. Bone broth is very rich in collagen. Drinking bone broth on a regular basis can help support your body’s natural ability to produce its own collagen as well. When this process happens it can lead to stronger healthier shiny hair, stronger nails, and improved skin.

  1. Contains a Rich Source of Vital Nutrients

Bone broth contains key nutrients like biotin, zinc, and vitamin A that support healthy hair growth and strengthen your nails and enhance your skin’s appearance. It is packed with essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and electrolytes that nourish your hair and nails from the inside out. What a win-win situation for your hair and body!

  1. Reduces Inflammation In the Body

Bone broth contains anti-inflammatory compounds like glycosaminoglycans which actually helps reduce inflammation on the inside of your body, as well as supports clear skin by reducing acne flareups. Chronic inflammation can have a strong negative impact on your hair and your skin, causing issues like hair loss, skin problems and premature aging.

  1. Hydration

The gelatin in bone broth helps to lock in moisture in your hair and skin. This provides deep hydration from within. Your hair needs this hydration to prevent excess dryness and breakage. Proper hydration promotes stronger, healthier hair strands. Your nails will also benefit from gelatin found in bone broth because it improves moisture and reduces brittleness. In addition to hydrating your hair and nails, your skin will be happy too. Bone broth can help your skin look plumper and more radiant. This reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s safe to say that the gelatin found in bone broth plays a major role in providing your hair, skin and nails with the hydration that is much needed on a daily basis..

  1. Strengthens Your Hair and Nails

Bone broth is very rich and amino acids like proline and glycine, which helps to strengthen the protein structure of your hair and nails. Amino acid directly contributes to healthy hair growth while reducing the signs of hair thinning. Consuming bone broth actually helps improve the overall texture of your hair, making it appear more shiny and luxurious. It also helps your nails become stronger and less prone to splitting or breaking.

In conclusion, incorporating this nutrient-packed delicious addition into your daily drinks or meals, can definitely be a game changer for anyone looking to improve their hair, skin nails and overall health. Drink bone broth like a tea or soup(as I do) or easily add it as an ingredient to any food you like.

Wait…You may have some of the same questions I had at first. Which were:

  1. How is bone broth made?
  2. How quickly does bone broth take to absorb into your body’s system?

Let’s get those questions answered now:

How is Bone Broth Made?

Bone broth is made by simmering animal bones with water and a little vinegar to help draw out all of the minerals. Sometimes vegetables or herbs are added for flavor. The bones usually include beef, chicken or turkey. When searching for a bone broth I personally look for organic bone broth. The long simmering time which is usually 12 to 14 hours, depending on the type of bones that are used causes the bones to break down the collagen, connective tissues, and all the minerals into the broth, creating a very nutrient rich liquid. You can make it yourself or purchase at a store.

How Quickly Does Bone Broth Absorb in Your System?

When consumed warm bone broth is relatively easy to digest and it quickly absorbs into your system. The essential nutrients like collagen, amino, acids, minerals, and gelatin are already broken down into a bioavailable form due to the long simmering process. This means that your body can begin to absorb the nutrients almost immediately. This one simple fact, makes it rewarding when drinking a warm cup of bone because you know that it is helping your hair, skin and nails as you sip. Amino acids in bone broth, usually absorb into your system within 30 minutes to 1 hour after consuming. The collagen and gelatin usually begins to absorb into your system within the hour. Hydration happens almost immediately while consuming bone broth.

In a nutshell, your body starts to benefit from bone broth almost immediately after drinking. In addition to that, consistent consumption overtime will have long-term benefits, especially for your hair, skin and nails, and even your joints..
